A lot of people are going to talk shit about the job, the pay, the co-workers anything. Then spend as much time around the knowledgeable people as you can. Try to figure out who knows their stuff and who's just there to collect a check. Every moment he's working and your not is a chance for you to look and see exactly how he's doing what he's doing. Don't take your eyes off your journeyman. Asking questions is one of the quickest ways to learn. It's ok not to know anything, but don't pretend that you do. Speaking from experience on both sides, the journeyman would far rather teach the guy who knows nothing, but wants to learn, than the guy who has 2 years experience and doesn't give a shot.
